12 Days Uganda Rwanda Tanzania safari offering chimpanzee tracking in Kibale national park, wildlife viewing along the Kazinga channel and mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park crossing to Tanzania to visit Tarangire National Park famous for Big Five animals – buffalos, cheetahs, elephants, lions and rhinos – in the rolling savannah, visit the Lake Manyara National Park, a small park at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment known for her tree climbing lions, birding and seasonal flamingo flocks and lastly visit the renown Ngorongoro Crater as well as the Ngorongoro Conservation Area which features the highest concentrations of wildlife – predators in Africa!

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali to Kibale Forest national park
Transfer from Kigali to Kibale national park. The drive to Kibale takes approximately 6 hours. This is a scenic drive through the Kigezi highlands commonly known as the “Switzerland of Africa”. Overnight stay at Kyaninga Lodge / Ndali Lodge / Crater Lodge (up-market); Mountains of the Moon Hotel / Chimpanzee Guest House (Mid-range / budget)

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking & Queen Elizabeth national park
At 7.00 am local time assemble at Kanyanchu park headquarters for briefing from the senior park ranger and at 8.00 am your guide will transfer you to the starting point for chimpanzee tracking. Normally the whole activity takes less than 4 hours. Later the guide will lead you to Chimps Nest Lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon enjoy a nature walk in the Bigodi community Sanctuary anticipating a variety of forest birds and primates including different monkey species.
In the evening transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. It takes 2 hours to get to Queen Elizabeth national park. Overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge / Enganzi Lodge / Kyambuara Game Lodge / Katara Lodge (luxury option); Ihamba Lodge / Bush lodge (mid-range)

Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise
Rise up at dawn for breakfast and an early morning game drive anticipating early risers including predators and other nocturnal mammals before they retreat to their hideouts. Expect mammals including hippos, buffaloes, hartebeests, leopard, lions, etc and a plethora of both endemic and migratory birds. Return to the lodge for an early lunch. At 2.00 pm transfer to the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise. The Channel is a magnet to all wildlife in this park. It boasts of a big number of birds than any single destination in Africa. Retire to your lodge for relaxation. Overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge / Enganzi Lodge / Kyambuara Game Lodge / Katara Lodge (luxury option); Ihamba Lodge / Bush lodge (mid-range)

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes national park
Very early in the morning, enjoy your breakfast and transfer to Volcanoes national park. This day is a long drive but worth undertaking as you traverse the scenic Kigezi highlands – views of the Virunga peaks striding the DR Congo and Rwanda is a big spectacle. Overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (up-market) / Sabinyo / Virunga Lodges (Luxury)/ La Palme / Hotel Muhabura (budget)

Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Tracking – Ibyiwacu cultural village
In the morning transfer to Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing by the park warden. Guests are accordingly allocated their specific gorilla groups for tracking in respect to their physical abilities. At 8:00 am local time all tourists will transfer to various starting points for gorilla trekking. Normally it takes 1 to 6 hours to encounter the mountain gorillas as they keep moving from one point to another. Upon spotting them, you are free to stay in their presence taking photographs and imitating their calls. Then return to the point where your vehicle is stationed so as to transfer you to the next available programme. Spend part of your evening at Ib’iwachu Cultural Village. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 6: Dian Fossey Hike / Golden Monkey tracking
In the morning, you will go for the hike up to Dian Fossey grave, an American primatologist who dedicated her live conserving the lives of the mountain gorillas until she was killed and is buried there next to Digit, a mountain gorilla. On return have lunch and later head out to visit twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 7: Transfer to Kigali for city tour & Departure to Kilimanjaro airport
After breakfast transfer back to Kigali. Your tour guide may take you around the city – visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site and the local handicrafts market, then proceed to the airport for your departure flight to Kilimanjaro airport Tanzania. Pick up from Kilimanjaro airport by our company tour guide who will drive you to your hotel for Dinner and overnight at our hotel depending on the airport of arrival.

Day 8: Transfer to Tarangire National Park – 4 hours drive
Early morning breakfast at hotel and set off with your guide to Tarangire National Park. Have a game drive on arrival through the golden savannah plains characterized of scattered acacia trees with fantastic views of all the Big five wildlife – buffalos, cheetahs, elephants, lions and rhinos, other wildlife include hartebeest, giraffes, Impala, Eland, generuk, tree climbing lions, birds like Kori bustard, stocking-thighed ostrich, ground hornbills, colourful yellow-collared lovebird roaming across the savannah. Have Luch at your lodge, relax and later in the afternoon return back for another game drive. Later have diner and overnight at you lodge / Camp / Tent

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Manyara National park – 3 Hours Drive
Early morning game drive through Taragire national park with great views of wildlife and later depart for Lake Manyara, a small national park situates at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment. Lake Manyara is mostly associated to birding and seasonal flamingo flocks, tree climbing, large herds of elephants and a few sights of other Big cats.  On arrival first have lunch at your lodge after which have a game viewing drive on the lake shores. Dinner and overnight at your lodge on the edge of the Great Rift Valley located.

Day 10 and 11: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater
Set off for the Ngorongoro Crater early morning after breakfast, reaching in time for a half day game drive. Ngorongoro national park is Tanzania’s most visited national park with large concentration of African wildlife than anywhere else in the world! Home to over 30, 0000 wildlife species, its only here where you can find Tanzania’s last surviving black rhinos. The Ngorongoro crater has water all year round hence home to vast wildlife including large herds of zebras, wildebeest, hippo, buffalo, eland, warthog. A high population of Big cats including lions, cheetahs, leopard and jackals. Later enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor amidst the wildlife. Later Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 12: Arusha – Departure
Have breakfast and be ready to transfer to Arusha, have lunch on arrival and drop off at the airport to catch your departure flight back home
